Early Placement

If you have maintained an acceptable GPA and attendance record during your junior year, you may qualify for an early-placement work option during your senior year.

Placed in a job through this program, you will have the chance to practice the skills you have learned during your first year of study. Depending on your ability and interest, you might work as an area automotive service shop or dealership. This work experience will compose a large part of your final lab grade. Not only will you receive program credit, but you will also have the opportunity to build employability skills, garner trust and a positive work reference from your employer.
Further Education

Should you wish to further your education as many Career Center graduates do, you will find that the time you invested in the Automotive Technology program may earn you pre-approved college credit.

Because completers have studied under the eight primary automotive service disciplines included in ASE certification, three area technical colleges will honor this study by awarding you college credit. This makes the cost of attaining the ASE certification more affordable. Some employers will even pay for their employees to attain this certification!

Colleges which participate (articulate) with the Coshocton County Career Center for this pre-approved credit include Sinclair Community College, University of Northwestern Ohio, and Washington State College.
Associations

As a student in the program, you will also have the chance to join and participate in SkillsUSA – the student association for several career-technical programs at the Career Center. This involvement will give you an opportunity to improve your leadership and interpersonal skills and to compete in local, regional, state and national skills contests.
Alumni Update

"Attending the Career Center really helped me figure out what I wanted to do in life. I always liked working on cars, but the skills I learned at the JVS were so good, I was able to get a great job right out of high school.”
