Early Placement
If, during your junior year, you have maintained an acceptable GPA and attendance record, you may qualify for an early-placement work option during your senior year.
Placed in a job through this program, you will have the chance to practice the skills you have learned during your first year of study. Depending on your ability and interest, you might work in one of a number of different types of jobs having to do with residential or commercial building construction. This work experience will compose a large part of your final lab grade. Not only will you receive program credit, but you will also have the opportunity to build employability skills, garner trust and a positive work reference from your employer.
Further Education
Should you wish to further your education as many Career Center graduates do, you will find that the time you invested in the Building Trades program may earn you pre-approved college credit and/or credit toward industry certification.

Colleges which participate (articulate) with the Coshocton County Career Center for these credits currently include Hocking College.

Also, because the Building Trades program content has been approved by NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research), you can earn the first year of NCCER’s four-year apprenticeship program, simply by completing the 2-year Building Trades program. Some employers will even pay for their employees to complete their NCCER apprenticeship.
Alumni Update
Attending school at the Career Center was the best choice I ever made. The Building Trades program – and even more so the instructors – were a real stepping stone in getting ahead in my career as an electrician.
