Early Childhood Education
About the Program
Little steps can lead to a big career in the field of Early Childhood Education. At the Coshocton County Career Center, we have what it takes to get you started on the right foot.

This exciting two-year journey will introduce you to the physical, cognitive and social-emotional development of today’s preschoolers.

Learn what it takes to get youngsters ready for “big school.” As you introduce them to their first formal classroom experience, you’ll engage them in guided play activities, learn to keep them safe and handle the behaviors typical of three, four and five-year olds.

In the program, you’ll also learn about running a daycare business and how to communicate with and engage parents to help make their child’s first formal learning experience a great one.

As a student in the early childhood program, you will assist in a local preschool classroom as you perfect the concepts learned in the program. Gathering “live” feedback on-the-job, will make your learning invaluable as you expand your career-based knowledge and skills.

Length of Program: 2 Years

Career Pathways: Assistant Preschool Teacher, Preschool Curriculum Planner, Daycare Provider
Further Education
If your desire is to pursue a teaching license, working toward your Associates or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Development, we have good news… You can qualify for college credit through potential articulation agreements with area colleges. These agreements can earn you advanced College credit toward a two or four-year degree in exchange for time invested in our Early Childhood Education (ECE) program.

Our Early Childhood Education program has been developed in conjunction with Ohio Department of Education’s Career-Tech Field Technical Content Standards for Early Childhood Education and Care. We have also worked with local early childhood programs to insure that the curriculum remains up-to-date, challenging and relevant to today’s needs.

Completion of the two-year program will earn you four child care certifications, which will help differentiate you from other employment applicants in the ECE field. These include CPR, First Aid, Communicable Disease and Child Abuse and Neglect. You will also earn the 120 clock hours of formal child care education required for a Child Development Associate Credential.
