About the Club

FCCLA stands for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. FCCLA is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private school through grade 12. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.

Today over 205,000 members in nearly 6,500 chapters are active in a network of associations in 50 states, including the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

FCCLA’s stated mission is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.

Students in the Coshocton County Career Center’s Culinary Arts and Early Childhood Education program are members of the FCCLA organization and have the opportunity to compete in leadership and career-tech skills contests, earning recognition when they excel. Through their club involvement, students also have the chance to serve the community in a number of philanthropic endeavors throughout the school year.

The Career Center’s local FCCLA chapter is part of Ohio FCCLA’s Region 8. Other career centers included in that region are: Belmont-Harrison, East Liverpool, Jefferson County, Knox County, C-TEC (Licking County), Morgan Local, Mid-East (Muskingum County), Buckeye Career Center (Tuscarawas County), and Washington County.

The FCCLA club co-advisors are Early Childhood instructor Mrs. Megan Grimm and Culinary Arts instructor Mr. Mike Cichon.
