Electrical Systems Technology

New Program Starts 2023-2024 School Year. 

In this program, students will learn many phases of the industry from residential, commercial, and industrial work to green construction practices, and programmable logic controllers.  The program involves hands on training related to electrical theory, safe electrical work practices, conduit fabrication, construction drawings and code, standards, and practices.  Successful completion not only paves your way for a career in the electrical industry, but it also gives you credit for the 1st year of the Newark Electrical Apprenticeship Program.

Mr. Todd Cognion is the instructor for this program.He is a 1987 graduate of Ridgewood High School.  After graduation, Mr. Cognition worked in the construction industry for a period of 28 years while earning an Associates of Applied Science in Construction Management (1990) from Columbus State Community College and a Bachelor of Arts in Construction Management from Capitol University (1993).  Mr. Cognion worked in the commercial construction industry for 6 years as a project superintendent before moving back to Coshocton County and taking over the family construction business, Carl and Todd Cognion Construction, Inc.
   
Mr. Cognion received his Master of Education in Career Tech from Kent State University in 2020. He has taught Career Technical Education for North Canton City Schools (4 years) and for Buckeye Career Center as a satellite program at New Philadelphia City Schools (2 years).


Mr. Cognion is working with the Newark Electrical JATC Pre-apprenticeship program to ensure real jobsite experience, which will allow graduates of CCCC to enter the Newark Electrical JATC as a second-year apprentice upon successful completion of the two-year program.
